HEADING FOR THE MOON. JUNE 18 - JULY 3, 2014

the schafberg rises over the salzkammergut like an emblem that turned into stone. depending on the perspective, he points – with his precise peaks – towards bohemia or towards the rising moon. two friends of the wolfgangsee choose both perspectives.

in 1911 a certain berthold hödlmoser and his school day friend carl crantz start their breath-taking jules-verne-adventure of steam-ballistic space flight. by the grace of god, emperor, fatherland, and the bohemian skoda-plants they dare the almost impossible and get as much tangled up in love affairs as in the snares of a technique, that – with the advent of the world war – can't just be peaceful.

SCHAFBERG 1911 – HEADING FOR THE MOON – is a performance on the edge of the schafberg abyss, a belle époque imagination of the future becomes a theatrical reality, by lawine torrèn, schafbergbahn and wolfgangsee tourismus.
